UI/UX Competition
Figma

During the College of Information and Computing Sciences Week in University of Santo Tomas, our team with three members won the "Turn It Up: The UI/UX Competition". The mechanics of the competition is to make an audio-book mobile application design which is customizable to its users, within 2 hours and 30 minutes.  I was the lead UI designer of the team in which I was the one to visualize the layout of the functions and components of the design. The functions to be added to the application were discussed by the team together.

Design Process

Emphatize. Plan. Design. Test.

In the Emphatize stage, me and my team determined the users of Bookify: book lovers who have smartphones. These people are typically teenagers and young adults since they are mostly the ones who are using these kinds of applications. With the user identified, their needs and how they will interact with the application were also determined. After that, we researched for other similar applications and compared them. With the limited time, we only focused on Spotify which we identified the functions and features to include and what not to. During the Plan stage, I created the wireframe of the application to determine the space allocations and prioritization of functions. The wireframe was created based on the information gathered from the empathize stage where we identified the functions to be included. And of course, the most fun part, the Design phase! In this phase, me and my team designed the pages of the application based from the wireframe that was created in the previous phase. I'm also in charge of creating the prototype wherein I put the design to life so that it can be used in the testing phase. Unfortunately, due to the limited time, we were only able to test the application during the presentation to the judges. Even though the time was short, I can say that it was a success.
